Mountains, lakes and music
A trip through an ‘Imperial’ area with green-blue lakes, an alpine landscape, colorful villages and towns, and with Salzburg as a jewel in Franz-Joseph’s crown: that is what this 10-lake trip through Salzkammergut has to offer you.

The total Radweg, or Cycling Route, is more than 400 km long; you will ride part of it and have to conquer a few inevitable climbs. The route book gives you information about the route and maps which show various shortened variations of the route. In a few hours you will be used to these route maps and you won’t really need any other description. The hotels are usually close to one of the many lakes. On the first cycling day part of the trip is by boat or train to Strobl. From Ischl you gently follow the course of the Traun, so that you will be rested when you start the climb to your hotel close to the Traunsee lake. The next day you cycle through hilly country through the Aurachdal valley to the colorful Attersee lake. This large lake is one of the most loved ‘bathing resorts’ of Salzkammergut. The third cycling day is also the longest stage. You ride along the Mondsee lake, via the town of the same name with a beautiful castle, to the lovely Salzburg. If you reserved it, you can visit the fortress early in the evening to enjoy a dinner concert. To get to know this wonderful city better, you can book one or two extra nights in Salzburg when you book your trip.
The route goes from the center of Salzburg over the Tauernradweg via Golling and the Gosau valley to the Hallstättersee lake and the Obersee lake. A transfer by bus allows you to take the difficult Gschütt Pass without a problem. There is a wonderful walk beside the lake to Hallstatt. For the last stage you ride along the Traun river via Lauffen to Bad Ischl and back to the Wolfgangsee lake.
